Found Footage: iPhone 2.0 firmware walkthrough, iTunes 7.7 screenshots

Gizmodo has posted a video demoing the new iPhone 2.0 (build 5A345) firmware. In the video they mainly show the new features: Fetch New Data option, Parental Controls, new BBC field when you type an e-mail, and the scientific calculator.
The AppStore icon was on the home screen, but wouldn’t launch because it has not been activated as of yet. In addition to the video walkthrough, Gizmodo also posted 4 screen shots of iTunes 7.7. One of the screenshots reveal a “Look for iPhone & iPod touch Remotes” checkbox in the Advanced > General section of iTunes preferences — something we had mentioned in an earlier post.

Found Footage: Mac Gaming 101
Have you been wondering “where are all the Mac games?” Well, ChannelFlip (our newest favorite Mac-related podcast) has been asking the same question. In their latest episode, Mac Gaming 101, they take many points on the topic and explain why Mac users wait longer for ports of games.
You may recall last Mat’s post last night about Blizzard; if only other gaming companies would do the same thing. You may also remember WWDC ‘07, when many game companies (including EA) promised PC/Mac releases on the same day — while they have almost held up their promise, it still leaves us wanting more.

Found Footage: iPhone 2.0 Japanese keyboard demoed
The software keyboard has set Apple up to ship more iPhones to more countries without wasting time manufacturing plastic keyboards. In this video, TokyoMango demos the new iPhone Japanese keyboard from the 2.0 firmware via the iPhone SDK simulator. While I cannot vouch for the usability of the keyboard (seeing as I haven’t used it, nor do I know Japanese), I can say that it looks very well designed and refined.
