Apple lists several things that are shown in the online seminar, some of which include:
- Integrating an Active Directory environment into Mac OS X
- Using the Active Directory plug-in in Mac OS X
- Configuring home directories (includes how to do this with mobile users)
You can watch this free online seminar by going to Apple’s seminar website and registering. You will then be able to stream the video using QuickTime Player, or download an iPod-compatible file.Read

Apple’s new strategy for hiring retail employees
If you’ve ever been to an Apple store, then you know how friendly and helpful the staff are. If you are the friendly type of retail employee in the vicinity of an Apple store, be on the lookout for recruiters from the fruity company.
MacNN reports Apple recruiters have come up with a new strategy for hiring new employees — just give friendly retail employees at other companies cards with the words “You’re amazing. We should talk.” on the front of them. On the back, the cards detail how the employee at XYZ company can become an employee for an Apple Store. This definitely helps with the hard work of hiring new Apple employees to fill the nearly 2,400 positions nationwide caused by the nearly 35-40 new stores opened each year.

Apple shuffles execs, Scott Forstall now head of iPhone Software
Looks like El Steve’s getting the house in order before all the guests roll in for WWDC — AppleInsider says there’s been some exec reshuffling at the top. Most prominently, Scott Forstall has been bumped up to Senior Vice President of iPhone Software, which means he now reports directly to Jobs. Given Apple’s big push into the mobile devices space, that’s a big responsibility, but Forstall’s got the chops — he’s been working on the core of OS X since the NeXT days, and he was responsible for the release of OS X Leopard. Also getting a fatter paycheck is Bob Mansfield, who’s the new SVP of Mac Hardware Engineering and will report to COO Tim Cook. MHE hasn’t had a leader since 2004, when a committee of Mansfield, Jonathan Ive, and Dan Riccio was put in place to lead development. Of course, all these guys are merely puppets in the grand schemes of Dear Leader anyhow, but hey, someone’s got to do the paperwork, right?
[Thanks, Mark]

Preparing your iPhone for resale
Reselling your used iPhone can be risky business if the device contains sensitive data. Normal restore and wipe procedures don’t fully delete user daa from the iPhone. In fact, iPhones sold as refurbished units may contain personal data from their previous owners that, with a little leg-work, is readily accessible by new owners. These data include email, images, contacts and more.
With a new iPhone model expected to debut in a matter of days or weeks, many current-generation iPhone owners are looking to unload their devices on eBay or elsewhere, potentially triggering a flood of unintentional personal data release. Fortunately, there is a method that, while time consuming, will significantly decrease the chance of new owners culling stored data from used iPhones.
